Chesteria Havrilla age 99 of North Versailles was welcomed into our world on November 3, 1923. Affectionally known to extended family and friends as Ceil, our Mom was carried to heaven on the wings of her guardian angel, she named Marsha, on December 13, 2022. Mom was the second child of five born to Polish immigrants, Anthony and Sophie Chisco. Our Mother spent her childhood and part of her adult life living in North Braddock. A true “Rosie the Riveter,” our Mom supported the war effort as she rolled coils at Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh. Mom was her happiest surrounded by family and floral arrangements. A longtimemember of the McKeesport Garden Club, her fingers were always busy designing and arranging. She had a talent and shared her creations with family, friends, and people she barely knew but instantly liked. Mom loved playing cards, as well as ready to hit the machines at the casino in a moment’s notice. A true believer in God and His goodness, our Mother was dedicated to her church and prayed the rosary for comfort and guidance. Mom was predeceased by her love, George. She is survived by children, Adrienne Virtes(Ron), Richard Sandor(Sandy), Kenneth Havrilla(Connie). Grandmother of six and Great Grandmother of nine, Mom will be sorely missed and remembered tenderly. So much to say in so little the space, our Mother was as strong as she was tender. Truly a risk taker and a dare devil, Mom believed in living each day to the fullest. Although in the minds of most , one might say she lived a long, full life. For us, it wasn’t long enough.

I have been delivering meals from East Allegheny meals on wheels to Ceil for years. She was the sweetest most even tempered person I know. My regret is I didn’t make the time to stop by and visit with her before the lord called her home. I will truly miss her. Rest In Peace my friend.
My mother (Esther Culbertson) was Ceil’s neighbor on Joan Drive for many years. My sister Nancy and I extend our sincere sympathy to the Havrilla family. Your mother was a truly kind and sweet individual. My mother always spoke fondly of her.
