William John “Bill” Kukurin, a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and friend; passed away peacefully at home on hospice care June 14, 2025 at age 71. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nancy Kukurin; son William Joseph “Billy” (and Alexis) Kukurin; stepdaughter Courtney (and Austin) Weinman; daughter Jeannine Brentzel; as well as numerous grandchildren.
Bill was born in Monroeville, PA to the late William Joseph and Alva (Urbansky) Kukurin. With his father’s early support and guidance, he began a lifelong career in high school, starting out with a backhoe and dump truck. Kukurin Contracting Inc. continued to grow and become a successful underground utility construction company, later expanding across diverse platforms to include heavy highway, civil, mechanical, environmentalprojects. Bill approached every challenge with relentless determination and tenacity that earned admiration throughout the industry. Bill was a past president of the Pennsylvania Utility Contractors Association in 1987 and 1989 and received numerous awards over the years for Excellence in Construction from the Associated Builders and Contractors.
To those who knew him best, he was “Kaptain Khaos”—a nickname offered with both affection and caution. You never quite knew what you were going to get. His reactions could be intense and unpredictable—but they came from a man who cared deeply, led passionately, and always meant what he said. Beneath the bluster was a generous heart and a man who would do anything for his family and his friends. He leaves behind this legacy of hard work, loyalty, and love that will be remembered for generations.
While work was always part of Bill’s life, he also lived by another motto “work hard, play hard.” He enjoyed years of traveling the United States and Canada behind the wheel of his motorhome with his wife Nancy and their dog Marley, right by his side. Bill’s passion for traveling took them to many National Parks, RV Rallies, and annually to Florida where he loved watching sunsets over the water at Riverbend Motor coach Resort.
