Joan (Vorce) Nicol

On Thursday August 29, 2024. Joan age 92 of N. Versailles, PA passed away.  Beloved wife of the late William Nicol.  Loving mother of Sandra Katch, Nancy (David Mapp) Akers, Bill (B.J.) Nicol and the late Scott Nicol. Dear sister of Jerry “Skip” (Linda) Vorce and the late Arlene Hoke.  Sister-in-law of Tom Hoke and Betty “Toots” Fawcett.  Also many nieces and nephews.  Joan loved and was loved by her very special surrounding neighbors.  Joan’s life was driven by her deep faith in the Lord.  In her younger years she was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in North Versailles.  Along with her husband William they delivered meals on wheels for 13 years.  To Joan, family and home were her loves.  The mailman Tyson was a daily joy to her. Joan was Irish, her husband William, Scottish. But, everyone would always say Joan’s more Scottish than Bill.  She would sing all the Irish and Scottish songs.  For 18 years Bill was a drummer in the Clan Douglas Kiltie Band.  She loved going to all the Scottish events with all the family.  Joan will be greatly missed by all.

Joan was our neighbor and go to “mom” for whatever and whenever she was needed. She helped both my sisters and I thru very hard times when we lost our own mother while we were young. Joan and Bills door was always open. She will always have a special place in our hearts
