Mary age 83, of Ross Township, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Thursday, August 24, 2023. She was born January 8, 1940, in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Rzeznik) Wasileski. She was a graduate of St. Benedict Academy, Perrysville, PA. She was a member of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) where she spent time teaching immigrants the English language. She was a member of St Catherine of Sweden Church, Allison Park, PA and was employed by Wildwood Golf Club, where she used her talents to decorate the club for all special events, holidays, weddings and celebrations. She was the “queen” of flower arranging and calligraphy, but her fondest memory of the club was the time spent working on events with her boss, Harry McBride. She was awarded Employee of Year for “great dedication to her responsibilities.” She spent her free time reading, writing poetry, making holiday costumes, alterations, baking, listening to Andrea’ Bocelli, collecting her Polish pottery, caring for her grandchildren and was long time “nanny” to Spencer. She cherished her memories of extended family in Poland whom she was still in contact with. She will be remembered as “Babcia” as she rocked her children, grandchildren and all babies to her Polish lullabies.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sisters Dolores Minnemeyer and Theresa Polito. She is survived by her four children, Cynthia Claassen of Hot Springs, SD, Paul Leddon of Carpenter, SD, Michelle Leddon of Pittsburgh and Matthew Leddon of Rapid City, SD; her brother, Robert Wasileski (Charlene); sisters Lillian and Joan; grandchildren, Logan and Cory Huston, Brittany Claassen, Devin and Haley Leddon; “fur” grandchildren, Havoc, Rosie and Kuba Sue and her most treasured (long-time) friends, Cheryl Carlin and Nancy Hurey, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer special thanks to UPMC Hospice, Rachel RN, Dana, CNA, “Pastor” Joe (as mom called him) for their kindness and dedication of care over the past year; Nancy, your hard work and caring ways allowed us to keep her home years longer than we ever imagined. Cheryl, your medical knowledge, love of our mother and endless “Fiji” hydration helped avoid numerous admissions. And to all our friends, family and neighbors for their delicious meals, snacks, baked goods and endless bowls of soup, we appreciate and thank all of you for your love and dedication to our Babcia!

I am so sorry for Your loss of your Mom Michelle. She was a beautiful lady! I met her when I would visit my Sister Mary Ann Schnupp at Felicity Dr.I became friends with her immediately and she would come down to my sisters apt And always helped her. I thank her very much for helping my Sister. We still remained friends all through the years. I will miss her tremendously. May God comfort you and may her memory be a blessing.
Josie she just loved both you and Marianne. It was very hard on her when Marianne passed. She just enjoyed talking about their Polish heritage and singing Polish songs!!
I am so sorry to hear about Mary. She was such a special person and I will always cherish the small window of time I had with her. I loved her passion for making her beautiful flower arrangements and sharing them with me and anyone else that admired them. I loved visiting her and she always made sure to send me home from Pittsburgh with things to decorate the apartment and made sure we had lots of food! She must have thought we never ate because she fed us the whole time we were visiting and sent us home with bags of food! I loved the way she loved children and she sure always treated Jared like her own grandson. I remember her as such a kind soul with the most beautiful smile. The world lost an angel for sure. I hope you take some comfort in knowing that she truly touched the lives of others.
