On February 5, 2022, Joe was reunited in heaven with his parents Albert and Eleanor Melko. This Air Force veteran was a Pittsburgh sports fanatic, loved all types of animals, and enjoyed eating delicious cookies. He experienced heaven on earth while catching fish, building fires or listening to classic rock. He is survived by brothers William, Gregory, and Daniel; sisters Mary, Gloria, Donna, Elizabeth, and Christine; brothers-in-law Ron, Mike, and George; sisters-in-law Mary and Christa; 4 nephews; 3 nieces; and 2 great-nieces. Son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend – Joe was all these things and more. His siblings describe him as being compassionate, easy-going, meticulous, quick-witted, genuine, hilarious, caring, kind, intelligent, giving, an un-sung hero, and a poker-faced storyteller. He will be sorely missed. Joe will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.
