On Thursday November 11, 2021 Edward E. “Gene” Edwards age 92 passed away peacefully surround by his family. Formerly of North Versailles. Born in Braddock, PA on February 12, 1929 to the late David and Agnes (Murphy) Edwards Beloved husband of 68 years to the late Martha (Blasko) Edwards. Cherished father to Edward Jr (Sandra) Edwards of Export, Patrick (Diane) Edwards of Fredericksburg, VA, Barbara (Terry) Jackson of North Huntingdon, Kathleen (Denny) Yates of Ross Township, Marcy (Ernie) Junstrom of West Mifflin, Judy (Mark) Sistik of Forest Hills, and Paul (Stacey) Edwards of Harrison City. Loving grandfather to 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brother, David (Carolyn) Edwards, and sisters, Marion (Owen) Keaton and Donna (Ray) James. He was a member of St Robert Bellarmine church in East McKeesport, a founding member of the St Robert Bellarmine Men’s Club, member and past Grand Knight of the Duquesne/West Mifflin Knights of Columbus, council 4210. He was retired from United States Steel after 44+ years of service in both the Edgar Thompson and Homestead Works plants. He was a veteran of the 8th Army, I Corps, Army of the Occupation in Japan. Gene was a man of great faith in God and love for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and time at their summer cottage at Pymatuning Lake. He will forever be missed by those who love him and now back in the arms of the love of his life.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday 10am St Robert Bellarmine Church, Mary Mother of God Parish. Burial will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park with full military honors.

David and I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Edward’s. We are Uncle Ed’s niece and nephew from his wife’s side. We had only met Mr. Edwards once and it was at Mrs. Edward’s funeral. He handled himself with such grace. He lived a long life surrounded by his family and there is nothing more beautiful than that. He has been called back to our Father God where he will rest in peace with the love of his life for eternity.
